Bellingrath Gardens and Home

Why We Love This

  • Enjoy 65 acres of year-round floral pageantry in a Southern estate Garden.
  • Great for families
  • Fun for gardeners

Come and visit Bellingrath Gardens and Home, a 65-acre estate Garden and historic Home created by Walter and Bessie Bellingrath in the 1920s and opened to the public in 1932. It is the state of Alabama's oldest public garden and features blooms and beauty every day of the year. Guests may take a self-guided walking tour of the Gardens and may also take a guided tour of the Bellingrath Home, which contains the Bellingraths' original collections of antiques and silver. Bellingrath Gardens and Home is open daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the regular season and from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. during the Magic Christmas in Lights season, which begins the day after Thanksgiving each year. Bellingrath Gardens and Home is closed only on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Days.
