Remote Bayou Canot, located just off the Mobile River north of the city, was the scene of two of the most dramatic tragedies in regional history: the derailment of Amtrak’s “Sunset Limited” in 1993 and the last documented importation of African slaves into the United States in 1860 aboard the Clotilda.
The boat is covered, has bench seating, and a restroom facility.
Very young children are allowed, but parents need to bring life vests for children under four years of age; the Coast Guard cannot guarantee the boat's life rings will fit toddlers.
The park is located on State Hwy. 225 4.5 miles north of its intersection with Hwy. 31 in Spanish Fort (approximately 5 miles north of I-10) and ca. 15 miles south of I-65.
Arrive at park at least 30 minutes prior to boarding to allow for travel time and to check in and board.
Plenty of parking at the dock area.
Guests may bring bottled water and snacks if desired.
Cruise tickets are nonrefundable but may be transferred to any other cruise or park facility rental in the event you need to cancel.
For safety reasons, the boat cannot go out in lightning and heavy thunderstorms. Cruises will take place as scheduled if only light precipitation is forecasted.
Enjoyed the Boat Captain
We loved our tour. It was very informative as well as pleasurable. I learned a number of interesting details. When booking the trip I didn't realize that we would also tour the Alabama State Docks area and circle around to view the USS Alabama. We were able to pull close to the beautiful lotus that were in bloom. We viewed a variety of wildlife including turtles, an alligator, egrets, herons, seagulls, osprey and maybe an eagle. One osprey had just caught a fish and was taking it back to its nest. So the tour exceeded my expectations. We will certainly book another tour in the future!
This was a wonderful trip. Very informative-the guide was knowledgeable and funny and Brian was very nice. Scenery was beautiful. We saw osprey and an alligator. Loved it.
Captain and mate know the Delta
We really enjoyed the trip. Beautiful scenery and entertaining guides
Beautiful scenery. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable. He kept it interesting. Enjoy the trip.
Great ride. I was a little sad due to the trip being centered around the anniversary of such a tramatic part of the Tensaw recent history.
This tour was a wonderful experience, educational and professionally done. We look forward to returning to the park for other tours in the near fulute
Really hit home for me. I lost my Uncle in this tragedy, who was one of the engineers. I’ve only seen the area in videos and news articles, but today I was finally able to see in person where it took place. The Captain and tour guide did a fantastic in detailing the incident accounts throughout the tour. Thank you!
We took the boat today to visit the site of Amtrak’s Sunset Limited derailment 25 years ago. My dad was one of the engineers that was killed. Everyone at Blakeley made it so special for us. We appreciate the stories and the photos they shared. We’ll definitely be back! Thank you for making this possible!
